On Sunday, 28th June 2026, from 08h00 until 18h00, NamPower together with NORED jointly scheduled planned power outages for network maintenance affecting both Ohangwena and Oshikoto Regions. The maintenance works were scheduled to be carried- out on the reticulations below:
1. Mulunga Sub-station Affected areas included Oniipa, Onethindi, Oneputa, Ontananga, Oshigambo, Onamukulo, Oshaango and the nearby villages;
2. Onhuo Substation Affected areas included all the three supply networks of Onekwaya 33kV, Eenhana 33kV, and Old Ondjiva 33kV reticulations.
Although every effort was made to complete the planned maintenance works and restore electricity within the communicated timeframe, unforeseen technical challenges were encountered, preventing the safely restoration of supply on both NORED and NamPower’s systems, resulting in an overrun beyond schedule time. The power was eventually restored to all affected areas between 20h00 - 21h00.
We understand the inconvenience this delay caused to households, businesses, schools, and the communities who depend on our essential services. Both NORED and NamPower technical teams worked tirelessly to resolve the challenges and restore power safely and as quickly as possible given the challenges the teams experienced then.
